Lonely Planet 2008 editor's pick for the Bay of Islands

Your hosts - John and Sheelagh Ball welcome you.

John and Sheelagh extend an invitation to join with them at their Homestay in Paihia.
We are worldly travelled and recognise the importance and expectations that people have when looking for a homestay. We enjoy the camaraderie and meeting people from all corners of the world.

Accommodation: The guest accommodation is made up of separate king bedroom, separate twin bedroom, with private bathroom. All are on one floor and you also have the freedom of the rest of the house and decks. The king bedroom also has an outside deck that leads into the native bush and wonderful gardens with exotic plant life.
While listening to the native birds in the bush surrounding your homestay you can sit back in the early evening and enjoy the view and good company with a complimentary New Zealand wine in a relaxing environment.
Once we let one of the bedrooms the No Vacancy sign goes up outside so that our guests have the use of the downstairs to themselves. In the lounge we have television, a CD player and a choice of classical, easy listening and musical shows.

Tariff: Our tariff is NZ$140 per couple per night, NZ$125 single per night. This includes complimentary Continental Breakfast with numerous homemade products. There are several cafes and restaurants in the village to satisfy all culinary tastes. On your return enjoy hot drinks, chocolates and a chat before retiring.

Location: The homestay is located at 41B Te Haumi Drive, approximately 2km from central Paihia, Bay of Islands, with popular beaches and services.
We have magnificent bush and sea views from the deck of our home in a secluded residential area. Quiet, private and comfortable accommodation, yet very convenient to all restaurants, cafes and all travel facilities.
We have parking off the road in our drive. As we are a small Homestay, we do not have credit card facilities. We are a non-smoking home.

Recreation: There is a great deal to see and do in this part of the world, including Swimming with the Dolphins, a trip to Cape Reinga, the Cream Trip including a visit to the Hole in the Rock and golf at courses with some fantastic views. We are only too happy to make bookings on behalf of guests.
